A student from Universitas Islam Indonesia, Faiz Fadhlirobby, from the Statistics Study Program, carried out an internship at the Nematology Laboratory, Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, with a focus on bioinformatics. The internship was conducted over a one-month period, from 27 January 2026 to 27 February 2026. During the program, Faiz Fadhlirobby was supervised by Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Maulana, S.Hut., M.Sc.

The activities carried out included data analysis, encompassing data exploration and the selection of expressed genes in two strains of the nematode Meloidogyne hapla on two different host plants. This internship is expected to produce an output in the form of an internship report containing the results of the analysis and the methods applied by the student.
This internship activity contributes to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, it supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthening student competencies in bioinformatics, data analysis, and nematology research that integrate theoretical learning with scientific practice. Second, it aligns with SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the application of bioinformatics approaches in the analysis of nematode gene expression, which encourages the development of data-driven innovation in agricultural science. Third, research related to plant-parasitic nematodes also contributes to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), as the analytical results can support more effective management of plant pests and diseases to improve agricultural productivity and food security. In addition, this activity supports SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through academic collaboration between Universitas Islam Indonesia and Universitas Gadjah Mada in the development of interdisciplinary research and learning.
