On November 17th, 2023, we were honored to host a guest lecture by Prof. Toru Iwanami, lecturer from Tokyo University of Agriculture. In this class, we discuss about Serious Threats from Phloem-Limited Bacteria to Tree Crops, for example Citrus Greening caused by Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus and Candidatus Liberibacter africanus, starting from symptoms, distribution, and transmission. It was a great and insightful discussion regarding phloem-limited bacteria which can be expand our understanding to studying the pathogen causing plant diseases and opening a new gates to collaboration to find the best way for new solution.
Field Practice of Bioinformatics and Plant Disease Diagnostics in Magelang: Syngenta Learning and Development Center, Ngablak on September 16th 2023 where all the practician do the disease signs and symptoms observation on horticultural commodities. It is also a way to improve the quality of learning in our study program.
On October 30th, 2023, we were honored to host a guest lecture by Eirene Brugman, S.P., M. Sc, our alumni from Phytopathology, Universitas Gadjah Mada. This is also a part of Bioinfromatis and Plant Disease Diagnosis class in our magister program.
In this class, we discuss about Population Genetics of Phythopthora sp. using Microsatellite Markers. It was a great and insightful discussion regarding population genetics studies which can be applied to studying the pathogen causing plant diseases.

UGM Phytopathology Master’s student named Nurina Al Mira took part in the 2022 Student Exhange Program between Universitas Gadjah Mada and Yamagata University by Jasso Scholarship. Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) offers scholarship for qualified international students who are accepted by a Japanese university under a student exchange agreement or other student exchange arrangement on a short-term basis for one year. This program is a program that supports students who carry it out to carry out research while undergoing this program.
